David J. Van Buskirk recently joined First County Bank as a business development officer. Van Buskirk comes to First County with more than 35 years experience in the financial services industry.
As a business development officer, Van Buskirk attracts new and expands existing customer relationships, generates new commercial and retail lending, and builds trust and investment relationships.
Most recently, Van Buskirk was business development officer at the Bank of New Canaan, where he managed a loan portfolio of $10 million and deposits of $25 million. During his 10 years with the bank, he served as a branch manager, Community Reinvestment Act officer and merchant credit card specialist.
From 1978 to 1999, Van Buskirk served as a New Canaan Bank and Trust Co. branch manager, business development officer, mortgage originator, CRA officer and was a member of the bank’s compliance committee, steering committee and CRA committee.

Van Buskirk is a board member of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, secretary of the New Canaan Lions Club and a volunteer consultant with Junior Achievement of Southwestern Connecticut. He also is a member of Brien McMahon High School Alumni Association board of directors. A six-year Army Reservist, Van Buskirk earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Bridgeport and is a graduate of the School of Banking at Williams College. He lives in Norwalk with his wife and they have two adult children.
