The First County Bank Sunday Concert Series at Bartlett Arboretum opens its season Sunday, June 24. Fifteen Sunday concerts are planned at the arboretum in Stamford.
The Sunday Morning Classical Concert Series feature a selection of unique performances by a mix of talented student musicians from the Yale School of Music interspersed with surprise appearances from professional musicians who regularly perform at world renowned venues in New York City. Morning concerts start at 10 a.m.
The 5 to 7 p.m. concerts will feature a host of different pop musical talent from the region. There is no charge to Bartlett Arboretum members, however, non-members have to pay a $6 garden admission fee; children 11 and younger are free.
Concerts are scheduled to be held in the gardens surrounding the original homestead of Francis A. Bartlett that currently serves as the administration building for the arboretum. In case of inclement weather, concerts will be moved inside the new Silver Educational Center on the same grounds.
“First County Bank is very excited about participating in this relaxed summer concert series at Bartlett Arboretum,” said Kathy Harris, First County Bank president and chief operating officer. “It’s a perfect opportunity for the public to relax and enjoy Sundays with live entertainment while sitting in the beautiful gardens of the arboretum, which are truly one of our area’s unique natural treasures.
“First County Bank is known for taking care of its customers when it comes to their financial needs,” Harris said, adding, “And through this sponsorship, we’re offering our customers and the general public a leisurely respite from their busy lives.” Concert goers should bring a folding chair, a beverage or two and a light snack to enjoy during performances. Cooking is not allowed on arboretum property.
“As a historically significant property in North Stamford, Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens is pleased to partner with First County Bank whose roots in the community are also generous and deep,” Peter Saverine, Bartlett’s executive director, said. “Our summer concerts are a wonderful way to introduce families throughout Fairfield County to this hidden natural gem that is open to the public 365 days a year.
“With the recent opening of our new 8,500 square foot Silver Educational Center and its outdoor complement, the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom, the arboretum has quickly become a centerpiece of nature-based learning in the area,” added Saverine. Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, located at 151 Brookdale Rd. in Stamford, Conn., has hosted this concert series for more than 11 years.
