Recently as a nation we experienced Small Business Saturday®, the first Saturday following Thanksgiving (one of the busiest shopping periods of the year) dedicated to supporting small business owners, helping fuel the economy, and invigorating communities across the country. Only in its second year, it became a social media hot button, generating more than 2.5 million fans on Facebook, up from 1.2 million last year, and one of the hottest topics on Twitter with hashtag #smallbusinesssaturday and the like trending that whole week. What does this tell us? Perhaps it tells us there’s a desire to return back to the days of simple pleasures, simple lifestyle, simple and meaningful relationships. A sense of community, of brotherhood, of family. And small business, Main Street America, and the American dream appeals now more than ever to the masses who perhaps are tired of a high speed lifestyle, the economy, and unemployment.
Coming off the heels of Small Business Saturday® we were inspired to share stories about the journey to success of some of our small business customers and reveal how they captured, or in some cases, recaptured the American dream! In celebration of First County Bank’s local businesses we announce Small Business Profiles – a series of profiles showcasing local merchants, small business owners and mom and pop stores throughout Lower Fairfield County. We hope you enjoy reading about them as much as we enjoy doing business with them!
